Gates of Summer V photos (UPDATED!)

<strike>Just a quick note regarding the photos from Gates of Summer V. I will try to have everything posted by the end of the week. If anyone from our realm has photos they would like posted just get them to me and I will get them in the gallery.

</strike>I have uploaded all the photos I had taken, I need to take a few minutes to organize them all, but I will get that done later. I didn't spend much time with them, basically I flipped through and removed any duplicates, made sure there was nothing inappropriate (I hope), resized everything (5mb original files don't work well on the net).
If there are any photos that you would like a higher quality copy of just send me an email and I will see what I can do.
Lady Paige has informed me that she has some more photos she would like posted as well, hopefully I will have those soon and get them up before the weekend.

I almost forgot, I said I would post this on the front page so its going to get posted on the front page.

It also makes a handy link to the Gallery

GET READY

As it stands now only 2 vehicles will be taken to Gates, and neither one is a pickup, so we all have to condense what we are planning on taking. Each person should bring a: TENT, CHAIR, CLOTHES, AND MONEY. Entrance fees are $15.00 for the whole weekend, and you will need money for food and drinks.

Morwinyon Admin. will only be providing water and one meal (Sat. night) so every one needs to plan ahead to feed and intoxicate themselves. Friday night we generally set up camp and then most food and alcohol stuffs will be purchased in Warrensburg Friday Night to cut down on how much has to be hauled. In addition we will dine out for supper that evening, and again on the way home Sunday, which might be lunch or supper, it will just depend on when everyone has to be home.

There are 15 Days left until GATES, so start stashing money back, I estimate that $100 per person should be MORE than sufficient.
New Home

The server move should have been mostly uneventful for everyone (except for myself), I do apologize for the downtime, and while it did go faster than I would have thought it would, there were more diffaculties than I expected.

The good news? I know I need to completely rebuild the site now (trust me, there was duct tape, sledge hammers, and praying to long forgotten gods involved in this move), and there are many new services that I can now offer to our members.

Also you will notice (after the DNS settings propogate) that going to nw.meleetech.com now automatically redirects you to our new domain Morwinyon.com

Bad news at this point is that the Gallery is broken... indefinately (basically until I find more duct tape and a bigger sledge hammer; oh SQL, how I love thee). I hope to get it fixed soon, since I have a huge amount of storage to use now and pictures/video seems like the best way.

Anyway, I am going to get some sleep now, if there is anything that you notice that is newly broken send me an email and I will get around to fixing it.
War Is Upon Us

As you all know War is almost at hand (Sept.28-30). At our last realm meeting we discussed transportation options, what type of personal gear was needed, as well as what supplies would be provided by the realm, Everyone will be expected to pay for a fair portion of the grocery bill, and bring atleast 20.00 for the troll booth, plus a Legitimate photo ID, also plan to bring extra cash. It was also decided by the council that NO first time participants could bring live steel. We all need to be getting days requested off, make final adjustments to our weapons/garb, and gathering supplies for the trip. Remember pack light because you will be responsible for carrying your own gear.
Updates and the such from Gates of Summer

Many things have transpired during and since Gates of Summer, and since I hope that our many members that were unable to join us in our battles are keeping up to date with the website I thought I would post a few things here.

First, I think the general consensus is that we did very well for our first event, and I think that we managed to refrain from making complete asses of ourselves, or perhaps people are just being to nice to point out our flaws.

While we didn't walk away being the great heroes of the battles, I think that people were more than aware of our presence (namely when we could here the horde side in the theme battles yelling to 'Kill those f'ing red weapons' on more than one occasion) all in all I believe that given our experience in battle we did quite well.

There have been a few administration changes (I will do a more thorough write up at a later time), and a division of power, more than anything these are just so we know who to turn to if there are any issues (which there should not be). We have formed a council consisting of 5 members (with more positions to be added later) 4 of the positions (Lomanoft, Paige, Artemus, and Jade) have been assigned a specific area of battle expertise and new members will be assigned to them as they join for training in both battle and general Dagorhir knowledge these council members are responsible for listening to those members if there is an issue put to the council and to vote in there best interest (the members, not the council member) similar to the electoral college. At the bottom of the council is me, I have been placed in charge of administrative details, website administration (still looking for someone to help with this), conflict resolution, ect... which basically translates into I have no real power, just have to do all the grunt work, it should be fun.

Most importantly it should be mentioned that we have formed an alliance with Ravenwood, they were kind of enough to assist us in a great many things both before and during Gates, and we hope to see them again at War of the Iron Fist, or hopefully sooner.

Speaking of War of the Iron Fist, start making your plans, because I fully intend on going.

In the interest of saving some room I will post a couple website updates below (click the read more link)
Gates of Summer

Since I have completely neglected the site, and Paige has completely ignored my requests for her to start posting news, I have finally found the time to announce: We will be attending Gates of Summer from April 27th through the 29th.

Our schedule isn't exactly set in stone right now but it appears that we will be leaving a little after noon on Friday the 27th and hopefully we won't get to lost on the way down, although no garuntees on that.

If we have forgotten to invite any of our realm members (very possible since we really didn't know that we would be going until last week then contact me or Paige ASAP.

To those that will be attending: get ready, its coming up faster than you think.

Quick Update

I have a few minutes to burn in class right now, and instead of using this time to catch up on the areas of the site I have been neglecting I have decided to push the back log off on someone else.

In other words our realms own Paige has been given certain administrative rights on the site which will allow her to help me keep the event calendar and news posts up to date. Hopefully she will take this time to make a couple posts about the upcoming events we have planned that I have yet to take the time to inform the general public about.

My main purpose to doing this is that I will be taking a extended leave of absence starting in June that will extend somewhere between 7 to 10 weeks depending on how things go and if there is a need for them to extend my contract. While I will have internet access (though it can be somewhat sporadic at times) so I will be able to keep up with any forum activity. In the little time I will be back in town during this time I do not see myself having the time to make much contact with my comrades in arms so I think it is important to have someone slightly more connected than me able to update everyone on the planned events.

Thank you.
Vash
